I very much enjoyed touring the fleet while it was at anchor at the library. I also regretted missing the reception on Friday evening. I'd liked to have met you...a fellow ship modeler. From a modelling standpoint, I'd have liked to hear about which were kit based vs. scratch built...as well as where you "shop". The last time I checked, Walmart did not have much of a pear or boxwood selection. I am currently building the Model Shipways Syren. Is there a local club or other builders in the area?
Thanks again for the show.
No clubs that I know of. I get most of my stuff through Model Expo. Hey, we're in the middle of the desert! Mary Rose was scratch, and the Bonhomme Richard was so seriously kit bashed as to almost be scratch - same with the Royal William.
Hello sir I was very happy to see that there is a modeler in midland tx I am newly back in midland and while I was away I fell in love with this hobby I have completed the Chesapeake bay flattie currently working on the usf constellation and beginning the king of the Mississippi I am interested in knowing if you have any talks or meetings that would benefit a new hobbies as myself I would love to get your input on my ships Thank you for your time
No talks except when "the fleet" is on display at the Library or elsewhere. There are no modeling clubs that I'm aware of here in Midland, either. It is a rather solitary hobby.
Do you by any chance post your build logs on mode ship world.com?
I sent a link to my Grand-niece who has just joined the navy. I think she will love the history of the ships, as well as the excellent builds and great photoagraphy.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
